PBParty!

Hi Wonderful Friends,

I have some amazing, shocking, and wonderful news. I entered into a contest called Picture Book Party put on by Mindy Alyse Weiss and Michelle Hauck.

Here’s how it works: Mindy, Michelle, and colleague Sharon allowed picture book writers to email queries and the first 50 words of their stories to them. They picked 25 finalists and posted them in a forum for fantastic agents and editors to see and request. I am so humbled by this and so thankful for these ladies for getting my work out for some many wonderful people to see.

So, where’s the math you ask? 25 finalists were selected for the showcase out of over 800 ENTRIES!!! Can you believe that? This story that I’ve worked on for years(almost 2 years–for some more math ;)), edited, re-edited, submitted, re-submitted, then edited again with the help of some absolutely amazing people has been requested by Ms. Asia Citro from The Innovation Press!

If you want to check out all the entries, feel free to stop by Michelle’s blog (just make sure not to comment, that’s reserved for Agents/Editors only). Mine is entry #5 (they’re in no particular order).

Thank you all for your love and support and wish me luck. I’m so happy that I’ve gotten this far, and I just hope Ms. Citro loves it and wants it published. I truly believe this is a story that needs to be in the hands of little ones to help our nation progress and be more confident in their mathematical understanding.

Sincerely,

Kaitlyn Leann Sanchez
