Quick Write by Kaitlyn Leann

Hey all,

I did a quick-write today as a part of Julie Hedlund’s 12 Days for Writers, and it was so fun!

But first, if you haven’t read the Interview with Trudy Ludwig, hop on over and do so. It’s incredibly inspiring and she’s generously giving away TWO of her AMAZING books!

“Darkness My Old Friend–What is hiding in the shadows?”

Soon

by Kaitlyn Leann Sanchez

She pulls back the curtain slightly and peeks out the window. It’s still there. At first she thought it was just a shadow created by the cascade of light from the old-fashioned lamp, but then it moved. Oh just a tree, she thought, but it moved again when the trees were still. Still, she knew it could only be, would only ever be a shadow. Then why does she feel so uneasy? Why does her stomach cringe and flutter when she reaches for the curtain, is she excited to be scared? What’s WRONG with her? Ding! She flings the curtain from her hand and runs to the kitchen as if escaping this place. She turns her head–for just a moment–looking back wondering will it still be there when I return?

That’s all I have so far, but man, it was fun!

  1. Wow, that does look like fun. I could see the story growing into a novel at some point. I want to know what is going on.

I’m up to my neck in dinosaurs — books and science activities — for my next STEM story time. That’s pretty scary, too.

    1. Haha thank you! It’s so funny, with prompts I almost always write older, the idea is just so daunting. My dream is to write short stories and novel someday, just not sure that day is here. I tried mg a few times but realized I need to read more and learn more and then got more pb ideas of course haha
