FALL WRITING FRENZY – 2026

A WITCHY FALL CLEAN UP
Once upon a fall day dreary
While I searched, tired and weary,
I came upon the perfect spell,
Lost in text Mother knew so well.
Mother tried making me a slave,
Sending me to an early grave.
Raking, piling, gathering leaves
Causing me those hacking dry heaves.
Piece of cake stopping their fast fall.
Casting a spell to hold them tall.
“Hocus Pocus Dom-in-o-cuss.
You leaves must stay in trees. No fuss.”
Yes, it worked. They’re hanging on tight.
I watched them sway in pale gray light,
Held with magic to twig and tree.
No painful work for lazy me.
Squirrel, she yanked and oh, she hissed,
As acorns latched like nuts that kissed.
“Chitter chatter.” Wow. She “grr” umped.
Pounding tree, her bushy tail thumped.
I didn’t think the spell would hold
All tree parts, right through the cold.
Black clouds they darkened autumn sky.
Birds like hawks and crows did fly.
Then a hurricane came roaring,
Tracking coast with rain a’ pouring.
Loud winds whipping, swirling around.
Leaves with trees falling to the ground.
Did I cause this terrible mess?
It doesn’t matter. Who can guess?
My mother wielding big chainsaw.
Now work is leaves AND wood, “Waaaaah.”

DAYS TO ATONE
Cooler breeze
Swirling leaves
Sets the tone for the Ten Days of Awe.
Time to reflect
Ponder
Introspect.
Internal pressures and external forces
Effecting and creating change
To influence who we are today.
Recognition
Admitting errors
Things I yearn to make right.
Like a round challah
Another year to complete.
We start fresh once again
Strive to improve and perfect
All aspects of daily life.
God willing,
Winter, spring, and summer
Will come and go.
And again, there will be
Cooler breeze
Swirling leaves
New days to atone.

Hello! I entered Fall Writing Frenzy and realized I put in the wrong photo number (should be 8 instead of 9). Is there any way for me to fix it? This is for the entry Knight-Time Skeletons. I apologize!
Thanks.
