Hi Math is Everywhere Readers and Spring Fling Kidlit Hopefuls,
Today we have our ninth prize donor in our Prize Donor Feature Series. She is an prolific writer and incredibly generous critiquer, too!
🎉Lynne Marie🎉
Lynne is offering a 30-minute picture book video critique via Zoom.
We asked Lynne some spring-inspired questions so you can get to know her better. Here are her answers:
- What is your favorite thing about spring?
Well, little spring critters of course! Hedgehogs, rabbits, badgers, you name it. I love all the critters, even sloths and aye ayes! And I love blooming flowers and bees as well. In fact my WIP is about a Bee. And last but not least, walks with my Schipperke, Anakin. But thankfully, I live in Florida, so I get to enjoy “spring/summer” every day and take those walks everyday by our lake.
-
Spring is full of surprises bursting forth, what’s something you’ve found surprising about the publishing industry?
Probably how subjective it is. You will read some fabulous books and some terrible books. Some books will soar and some books will tank. Still the goal will always be the same. To write the best book you possible can — one that you will be proud of and that has something positive and wonderful to say to children that will perhaps inspire them in some way or even just allow them to accept themselves or laugh for a moment. As a tip, never forget that “child door in” when you are writing.
- Can you tell us a bit about your two latest books?Â
Moldilocks and the Three Scares is a fractured fairy tale with an an adoption/foster family slant which turns Goldilocks and the Three Bears upside down in a fun way.
And I also have Let’s Eat: Mealtime Around the World which explores the different ways children in different countries eat their meals and shares fun and interesting facts.

OMG a critique with Lynne Marie. I would love to win that. I so agree about the industry being subjective. Kaitlyn I went to Ciara’s blog page and couldn’t find where to sign up for her posts. If you could guide me that would be great. Thanks
